As a fun way to tell others about my hobby I’ve put some keycap keychains on my lanyard. I’ve accumulated a few hundred dollars in keyboards / keyboard parts and I hope my obsession doesn’t go much further. Being a programmer and gamer it’s no surprise. Posted on DecemCategories Computer Related Leave a comment on In Defense of NFTs A Quick Review of Keycap Keychains Side note: I often get frustrated when I see an image online and I’m like “I must know the artist” and so I reverse image search it but all that pops up are thousands of Pinterest results without proper credits. Personally however, I haven’t found any pieces to my liking. Ever seen a photograph, drawn landscape or anime girl online and been like “Wow, that looks amazing”? What if you could be the owner of that work, even just in name? I honestly think that’d be pretty cool. What they do have, is a little plaque next to the piece that says “on loan to the museum from the Fam family”, they own it and I personally think that’s a big deal.Īfter all, digital art is just another medium, not even a far stretch from conventional art. It’s not decorating their house, they don’t look at it everyday, and anyone can view it. Secondly, people often loan artworks to museums for public display. As someone who considers art and tech to be prevalent life passions, I think there’s a lot of appeal.īut why would you pay huge amounts of money to own a piece of art that’s not tangible and also publicly accessible which completely nullifies its exclusivity? Well firstly I understand that it’s not tangible but digital media obviously has a value or I wouldn’t be spending hundreds to thousands commissioning artists for my videogames. However, I like the idea of it, especially for digital art. I’m gonna start by saying I don’t own any NFTs and I don’t plan on buying any right now.
